Expectional Philippine Experiences!
Mabuhay Restop Travel Cafe and Museum in Rizal Park is the first venture of Mabuhay Restops, Inc. that aims to promote Philippine cultural heritage and love of God and country through food, tours, shows, art and other attractions.
Inspired by Gawad Kalinga ("GK"), Mabuhay Restop introduces a sustainable business model that supports GK in nation-building.
The owners, Alain and Rose Cabrera, helped establish the GK network in the USA from 2001 to 2008, building over 300 GK Villages, and the GK Rafaella Village in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Vision
Mabuhay Restops are envisioned as the go-to place for every tourist in the Philippines where they could experience the country like never before while becoming effective catalysts for nation-building.
Working together with GKonomics, a GK partner in social enterprise development, they aim to establish Mabuhay Restop as one of the first enterprises to commit to give 30% of its net income to GK, with the intent to eventually increase this percentage as their way of (1) showing that it is profitable to invest in the poor and partner with them, and (2) living out the mantra of "Less for self, more for others, enough for all."
Aside from sharing profits with GK and providing income to GK residents, Mabuhay Restop is also a vehicle to share GK Vision 2024 to bring 5 million families out of poverty by showcasing the GK way of building and transforming communities, inspiring people to "bayanihan" and promoting love of God and country through their product offerings.
Mission
Mabuhay Restop seeks to promote social tourism and entrepreneurship in the Philippines by:
-
Empowering community-based tourism enterprises;
-
Facilitating volunteerism tours that are not just fun and affordable, but also meaningful as they have immediate concrete transformational impact on the community;
-
Establishing a central tourism base in Rizal Park that will showcase the beauty of the Philippines and the Filipino through tours, shows, events, and hearts, and eventually spread throughout different parts of the country;
-
Facilitating demonstrable pay-forward schemes for accomplished Filipinos (the best for the least); and
-
Demonstrating a feasible business model that commits significant percentage of income to nation-building.
